Not every child in Gambia gets the opportunity to attend school on a regular basis due to the cost.  In order for a child to attend school they must have a uniform, a proper pair of shoes and resources (text books, exercise books, stationary)  for some parents the cost is just too great so their children have to miss school until their parents can afford to send them or share attending school with siblings, one to go one year and one another.

By agreeing to offer a Sponsorship to a child through Giving for Gambia you are helping to change a child’s life by providing them with the opportunity to access an education that they long for in the hope that it will lead to a better life by giving them the skills and confidence they need to overcome poverty and live a full-filling life in the future with better opportunities.

Your sponsorship money will provide a child with all the things he/she will need in order to attend school for a school year (September to July):

In return you are kept updated with his/her progress during the year as well as photographs/videos.  The children are encouraged to send letters/drawings of their news to you about their life and family.

The children also love to receive letters/cards, gifts like a book to read, a teeshirt to wear from their sponsors all of which is sent through Giving for Gambia.

At the end of the school year you will be asked whether you wish to continue or stop.  Nearly all our sponsors choose to continue with their sponsorship and we are now beginning to see some wonderful relationships building between our sponsors and their families. Some of our sponsors have also visited Gambia and spent time with their families at their homes and on some occasions in school.

All communication is handled through Giving for Gambia we purchase all the resources the children need on their behalf.
